I have been really in to the benefits of Turmeric lately. It’s health properties are countless, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, it boosts immunity, it’s great for your skin, regulates metabolism, promotes digestive health, liver detoxifier and it helps with memory and brain function. Those are just a few, the list goes on. I use it regularly these days, in our immunity boost syrup (which I swear has helped to keep us heathy this sick season along with our essential oils.) I’ve also been using it in a beauty mask that I will have to share soon as well. I wanted to post the recipe I’ve been using for the age old elixir, Golden Milk. It’s pretty much a Tumeric Milk tea, that is yummy and completely beneficial.
What you need-
2 cups coconut milk (almond or hemp milk work too)
1 teaspoon Turmeric Root Powder
1 teaspoon Organic Raw Honey
a pinch of black pepper
a small piece of peeled ginger root
1/2 teaspoon coconut oil (optional)
Heat milk in a sauce pan to desired temperature. I like mine pretty hot, but you don’t want it to boil. Once you have it the right temperature add a tiny bit of hot milk your drinking mug (about 3 tablespoons) and whisk in all other ingredients, it should be paste like. Once well blended top it off with the rest of your coconut milk and give it a few stirs. Drink hot and enjoy.
I happen to really enjoy the flavor of Turmeric, but if you don’t add a little more honey or maple syrup would work too. It’s rainy here today in the Bay so this is the perfect immunity boosting, detoxifying, brain boosting drink to keep you going today.
