I stumbled upon this article and decided to make my own Hemp Seed Milk. I’ve made it twice now in two days because it’s so easy and delicious. Hemp seed is the healthiest of all nut milks, with the most nutritional value, even though it’s not really a nut, it’s a seed. Here are just a few benefits –
Omega-3 Fatty Acid
Omega-6 Fatty Acid
All 10 Essential Amino Acids
4 grams of Digestible Protein
Vitamins A,D,E, and B12
So, Lets make this Milk! Here is what you need-
1 cup hemp hearts, or called shelled hemp seeds
4 cups filtered or spring water
4 organic dates to sweeten
2 Tbsp of raw honey (optional depending on how sweet you want it)
1/2 Tbsp of organic vanilla extract
A pinch of Himalayan pink salt (which of course, I didn’t get in the photo)
Nut milk bag or cheese cloth
Once it’s all nice an smooth use a cheese cloth or nut milk bag to strain all the clumps out. Put milk bag or cheese cloth over a bowl and pour contents in. Really wring out all the liquid. I’ve read that some people like to leave all the seed clumps in, which I’m sure is great for a morning smoothie, but that’s up to you.
Store in an air tight container and refrigerate. This milk really only lasts about 3 or 4 days, so making smaller batches makes sense. I love it, and hope you give it a try. The kids weren’t very into the flavor, but thats what smoothies are for. I baked corn bread with it last night and it was a success.
